The total value of election-related seizures in Coimbatore district has reached ₹7.63 crore as of 6 a.m. on April 1, 2026, according to official data released by the election authorities. Cash seizures accounted for ₹4.18 crore, forming a major share of the total. Authorities also seized 1,328.69 litres of liquor valued at ₹4.55 lakh during enforcement drives carried out across the district. In addition, drugs and narcotic substances weighing 173.505 kg were seized. The value of these contraband items was reported at ₹8.65 crore. Precious metals weighing 1,829.26 grams, valued at ₹2.20 crore, were also confiscated. Officials further reported the seizure of 2,715 units of other items, which may include gift articles, with a total value of ₹33.59 lakh. The seizures were made as part of intensified surveillance and enforcement measures undertaken in view of the Assembly elections. Flying squads, static surveillance teams and other enforcement units have been conducting vehicle checks and inspections across key locations in the district.
