The newly released image confirms Turner’s transformation into the iconic adventurer, drawing closely from the look and spirit of Lara Croft as seen in the original Tomb Raider video games. The series represents a fresh take on the long-running franchise, while retaining familiar elements that have defined the character since her debut in the 1990s. Turner, best known for her role in Game of Thrones, leads an expansive ensemble cast that includes Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, Martin Bobb-Semple, Jack Bannon, John Heffernan, Bill Paterson, Paterson Joseph, Sasha Luss, Juliette Motamed, Celia Imrie and August Wittgenstein. Weaver plays Evelyn Wallis, a newly created character described as a powerful figure seeking to exploit Lara’s abilities. Isaacs portrays Lara’s uncle, Atlas DeMornay, while Paterson appears as Winston, the Croft family’s longtime butler. Bobb-Semple takes on the role of Zip, Lara’s trusted tech expert and confidant. Other cast members will play original characters created specifically for the series. The reboot is being positioned as a major expansion of the franchise, with Amazon describing plans to connect live-action storytelling with future Tomb Raider video games in a shared narrative universe. The series is created and written by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who also serves as executive producer and co-showrunner alongside Chad Hodge. Jonathan Van Tulleken is directing and executive producing. The project is produced by Story Kitchen, Crystal Dynamics — the developer behind the games — and Amazon MGM Studios. While a release date has not yet been announced, the series arrives as the franchise prepares for a broader revival. Two new games, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis and Tomb Raider: Catalyst, are currently in development for release in 2026 and 2027, respectively. The Prime Video series marks the latest screen incarnation of Lara Croft, following previous film portrayals by Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander.
