A three-year-old boy died in Sikkal after a wooden crate collapsed and fell on him while he was playing. Police said, Arnish, 3, son of the couple Sarathbabu and Nadhiya Devi, residents of West Street in Sikkal, Ramanathapuram district, was playing at a small shop near his house on Monday evening. While Arnish was playing by pulling on a wooden crate at the shop, the crate suddenly toppled over and fell, causing a severe head injury. His mother and bystanders immediately rushed him to a private hospital in Sikkal, where first aid was administered. He was subsequently taken to the Keelakarai Government Hospital for further treatment. However, upon examining the boy, the doctors there declared that he was already dead. Following this, the child’s body was taken to the Ramanathapuram Government Medical College Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The Sikkal police are investigating the incident.
