A two-and-a-half-year-old boy died after accidentally falling into a water sump at a house in Byadarahalli in north Bengaluru on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Chirag, son of Annayya, a private firm employee, and Rithu, residents of Byadarahalli. According to police, the couple was preparing to attend a relative’s wedding. The incident occurred when the child’s father had opened the sump lid to draw water for washing a car and briefly went inside the house. While playing nearby, the toddler accidentally fell into the open sump and drowned. The incident came to light when the family members stepped outside and noticed the child missing. A case has been registered at the Madanayakanahalli Police Station and further investigation is under way.
