The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (Kumbakonam), Tiruchi Region, has started operating special buses to various destinations from Tiruchi to cater to the festival rush from Monday. As many as 1,327 specials are being operated to Chennai, Salem, Erode, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Madurai, Dindigul, Palani, Thanjavur, and Velankanni from the Kalaignar Karunanidhi Integrated Bus Terminus at Panjapur in Tiruchi till January 15, a TNSTC press release said. Additional town bus services were being operated to the various destinations in Tiruchi City from the integrated bus stand. This apart, about 405 special buses would be operated to Thuraiyur, Perambalur, Ariyalur, and Jayamkondan from Chathiram Bus Stand, the release added. The TNSTC appealed to passengers to make use of cashless UPI payment options for purchasing tickets. More than 10% of the passengers of the corporation were using the facility.
