The Federation of Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation All Employees Unions on Tuesday staged a protest demanding that the State government to provide a pension for all retirees of the corporation. Even though the staff of the corporation get paid on par with State government staff, they do not get pensions. They only get ₹1000 to ₹2,500 as monthly pension via the Employees Pension Scheme, 1995, which is hardly enough to meet their monthly expenses. “We are urging the government to provide a pension of ₹9,000 under compassionate grounds as is being done in other corporations,” said K. Ilavali, INTUC.
