Raghunathan Marking the end of a month-long fast, Muslims in Chennai offered prayers on Saturday and celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr by exchanging greetings and extending help to the needy. The Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam (TMMK) organised a special prayer at the Don Bosco School ground in Broadway, in which hundreds of Muslims participated. TMMK president and Manithaneya Makkal Katchi leader M.H. Jawahirullah said at a time when this auspicious day is being observed, the ongoing conflict in West Asia is worrisome. He said people in West Asian countries have been observing Ramzan amid missiles and bombs. The Israeli and U.S. imperialist forces have destroyed close to 93% of mosques in Gaza, he alleged. He also appealed to the people to pray for those affected by the war and urged them to protect social harmony.
