Kar victim’s mother allegedly used derogatory language against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee during her campaign as a Bharatiya Janta Party candidate from Panihati. Trinamool Congress MP Kalyan Banerjee wrote to the Election Commission of India (ECI) and asked the poll body to take immediate action against the candidate. Sharing the viral video on his X handle on Sunday (April 5, 2026), Mr. Banerjee, an MP from the Serampore Lok Sabha Constituency, condemned the verbal attack and asked to file an urgent complaint against the woman. Assembly elections LIVE – April 6, 2026 “Such conduct is in gross violation of the Model Code of Conduct laid down by the Election Commission of India. The use of abusive language and issuance of threats during an electoral process undermines the principles of free and fair elections and creates an atmosphere of fear and hostility among the public,” Mr. Banerjee wrote. The TMC leader and senior advocate said that such behaviour is a deliberate attempt to vitiate the electoral environment and can set a “dangerous” precedence. Mr. Banerjee urged the ECI to take immediate cognisance of the matter, order an enquiry, and take immediate action against the BJP candidate. In the video, which is now viral on social media, the mother of the R.G. Kar victim can be seen making remarks against the CM while speaking to a local media reporter. “If I meet her (CM), then I will drag her by her hair. After this, her place will be inside a jail. Either I will put her in jail, or put her inside a drain and beat her,” the victim’s mother remarked.
