Several major Siva temples in Tirupati witnessed a steady inflow of devotees on the occasion of Mahasivaratri, on Sunday.

The Swarnamukhi river flowing south of Tirupati is dotted by scores of temples along its banks. While Srikalahastheeswara temple in Srikalahasti town is a major temple on the banks of Swarnamukhi, the other ones include Parsareshwara Swamy temple in Yogimallavaram, Parasurameswara temple in Gudimallam, Agastheswara temple in Mukkoti (Thondavada), Valmikeswara temple in Durgasamudram and others.

M Sri Kapileswara temple in Kapila Theertham and Jeevalingeswara temple in Jeevakona also witnessed heavy crowds. Similarly, the Siddheswara temple located deep inside Talakona forest was also thronged by devotees from western mandals of the district.

Meanwhile, devotees from neighbouring Tamil Nadu and Karnataka thronged Srikalahasti. MLA Bojjala Venkata Sudheer Reddy, trust board chairman Kotte Sai Prasad and executive officer T. Bapi Reddy took part in the events.
