Tirunelveli district, which had 14,18,325 voters before the Special Intensive Revision of electoral roll, now has 12,53,264 voters comprising 6,11,601 men, 6,41,518 women and 145 others in the final electoral roll released by Collector and District Election Officer R. Sukumar here on Monday. The number of voters in the district has declined by 1,65,061 voters (11.64%) after the revision. Speaking to reporters, Dr. Sukumar said the draft electoral roll was released on December 19, 2025, after the special intensive revision began on November 4. After the release of the draft electoral roll, which then had 12,03,368 voters, claims and objections were received from aggrieved voters to add or delete their names from the voters’ list. After the claims and objections were verified by officials through field visit, the final electoral roll had been released ahead of the Assembly election. “Even now, eligible voters, whose names are yet to be included in the voters’ list, can include their names by submitting Form 6 while deletion or correction can also be done by submitting Form 7 or Form 8 respectively until the last date of filing of nomination,” the Collector said. During SIR, 60,531 voters including 18,484 first-time electorate have been included in the voters’ list while 10,635 have been deleted due to death, permanent relocation and double entry. Number of voters in 5 Assembly constituencies of Tirunelveli district after SIR: Tirunelveli – 2,73,520 voters – 1,32,511 men; 1,40,929 women; 80 other voters. Ambasamudram – 2,25,714 voters – 1,09,384 men; 1,16,318 women; 12 other voters. Palayamkottai – 2,55,130 voters; 1,23,972 men; 1,31,141 women; 17 other voters. Nanguneri – 2,54,420 voters; 1,25,276 men; 1,29,130 women; 14 other voters. Radhapuram – 2,44,480 voters; 1,20,458 men; 1,24,000 women; 22 other voters. Apart from this, 1,477 ‘service voters’ serving in armed forces are also in the district. The voters can either use www.voters.eci.gov.in or Voters Helpline App for adding or deleting the names or doing corrections in the names or address by submitting appropriate documents. The public can also call the toll-free number 0462 – 1950 and the Offices of Tahsildar or Revenue Divisional Officer concerned to clarify their doubts. The district now has 1,678 polling booths – 386 in Tirunelveli, 321 in Ambasamudrtram, 296 in Palayamkottai, 349 in Nanguneri and 326 in Radhapuram Assembly constituencies as each booth will have a maximum of 1,200 voters. The Collector also informed that the new voters would receive their Electors’ Photo Identity Card (EPIC) within a week. While releasing the final electoral roll in the presence of representatives of recognised political parties, Corporation Commissioner and Returning Officer of Palayamkottai Assembly segment Monika Rana, Dr. Sukumar appealed to the political parties to cooperate with the district administration by scrupulously following prescribed norms to ensure free and fair election. The neighbouring Tenkasi district has 12,64,411 voters including 6,18,063 men, 6,46,180 women and 168 other voters who will cast their votes in 1,680 booths in the district, according to District Collector A.K. Kamal Kishore who released the final electoral roll on Monday. The district had 12,25,797 voters including 6,01,787 men, 6,23,852 women and 158 other voters in the draft electoral roll. Assembly constituency-wise voters: Sankarankovil (Reserved) – 2,36,532 voters; 1,14,876 men; 1,21,639 women and 17 other voters. Vasudevanallur (Reserve) – 2,27,369 voters; 1,10,960 men; 1,16,396 women and 13 other voters. Kadayanallur – 2,67,517 voters; 1,32,228 men; 1,35,272 women and 17 other voters. Tenkasi – 2,79,585 voters; 1,36,260 men; 1,43,223 women and 102 other voters. Alangulam – 2,53,408 voters; 1,23,739 men; 1,29,650 women and 19 other voters.
