The tiger that triggered panic at Ayyankunnu in the district was captured by Forest personnel and shifted to the Kuppadi Tiger Rescue Centre in Wayanad on Friday (January 10, 2026) night.

Officials said the animal was trapped in the cage after days of heightened alert in the area following repeated incidents of livestock attacks. The tiger was captured around midnight.

The tiger had earlier entered a farm owned by Rakesh at Palathumkadavu, where it reportedly mauled four cows to death, causing fear among residents and prompting calls for urgent action by the authorities.
