A group of 50 devotees from Rajanagaram mandal in East Godavari, were asked to return from Ramadurgam hill following sighting of a tiger near the hill in Devipatnam mandal in Polavaram district on Wednesday. 

Forest officials swung into action after being alerted by the district officials about the presence of devotees who had gone to the hill for darshan at the temple. The devotees were reportedly unaware about the tiger’s movement in the vicinity of the Ramadurgam hill. 

According to an official release jointly issued by the Information and Public Relations Department; “Forest officials who have been monitoring the movements of the tiger along the banks of the river Godavari rushed to the hill and brought the devotees back on tractors.”
