Three unused fibre boats gutted in fire

Three unused fibre boats gutted in fire at Colachel on Wednesday.

According to police, the boats were old, unused and did not have registration numbers. Personnel from the Fire and Rescue Service were alerted and the fire was brought under control promptly. So far, no complaint has been received in connection with the incident.

Police suspect that the fire might have been caused by someone accidentally discarding ignitable materials such as cigarettes or possibly due to extreme heat, the official said.
