The police arrested three men in connection with the attempted murder of a 23-year-old online delivery worker in Velachery on Sunday night. The victim, Parthiban, a resident of Velachery, works for an online delivery company, Zepto. Police said he was walking along A L Mudali First Street in Velachery when two men on a bike attacked him with knives and swords. Parthiban sustained injuries. The attackers fled the spot immediately after the assault. The locals rushed to his aid after hearing his cries and alerted the Velachery police. Parthiban was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) and was undergoing treatment for multiple injuries. After scrutiny of CCTV camera footage, the Velachery police traced and arrested three suspects identified as Vishnu alias Nanda, Sundaraj, and Srivishnu. Police said the trio attacked Parthiban to settle scores over an earlier quarrel during Deepavali celebrations last year.
