The Palamaner police on Wednesday arrested three members of a gang involved in a series of house burglaries and chain-snatching cases across Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, and recovered gold and diamond jewellery worth nearly ₹50 lakh.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Tushar Dudi told the media that the accused were nabbed near the Nagamangalam flyover on Chittoor-Bengaluru highway following a sustained investigation aided by technical surveillance. The police teams recovered 210 grams of gold and diamond jewellery, besides a car and two motorcycles from the accused.

The arrests were made following a house burglary case reported on July 15, 2025, at Ayyakannu street in Palamaner town. Based on a complaint lodged on July 18, a case was registered at Palamaner Urban police station.

According to the police, the main accused, Rayapati Venkaiah (49) of Guntur, has been involved in around 100 cases, while the second accused, Shaik Nagul Meera (27) of Palnadu district, has 75 cases to his name, and the third, Tulasi Ramireddy (26) of Guntur, has been involved in six cases. The trio confessed to committing the offences not only in Palamaner, but also in Punganur, Gangavaram, Bengaluru, Mulbagal, Bangarapet, Kolar and Krishnagiri.
