Image used for representation | Photo Credit: The Hindu Security forces arrested three militants belonging to different proscribed outfits for their alleged involvement in extortion in two districts of Manipur, police said on Thursday (April 2, 2026). Over 2300 rounds of ammunition were also recovered in separate operations from three valley districts of the State. The police arrested an extortionist belonging to the PREPAK from Thongkhong Laxmi Bazaar in Imphal West district on Wednesday (April 1, 2026). One cadre of the People’s Liberation Army was apprehended on Tuesday from Khabeisoi area in Imphal East district. Another active cadre of the Kangleipak Communist Party (MFL) was apprehended on the same day from Kongpal Kongkham Leikai in Imphal East district. Security forces during an operation on Wednesday (April 1) recovered a cache of explosives and ammunition from Heirok Part-II, Khangabok Mahadeva Ching area in Thoubal district. Two hand grenades, five magazines of different firearms, and 2388 rounds of ammunition of different calibres were seized during the operation.
