Three persons died and three others sustained injuries when a car collided head on with a KSRTC bus near Monippally on Monday. The deceased were identified as K K Suresh Kumar (50), a native of Neendoor in Kottayam, his wife Ambili (45) and Arijith (7), son of Suresh’s friend, Sooraj, who hails from Kollam. Suraj- 45, his wife Rakhi – 40, and Suresh’s son, Gokul – 12, were admitted to the Government Medical College hospital in Kottayam with serious injuries. According to police, the accident occurred around 11 a.m. near Udayagiri Little Flower School on M C Road. Three people were admitted to the hospital with serious injuries. Preliminary reports stated that the car, having the families of Suresh and Sooraj on board, was returning home after a visit to the Thiruvairanikulam temple in Aluva. The car collided head on with the bus that was heading towards Kuthattukulam. The car was completely destroyed in the impact of the collision. Local people, police and the Fire and Rescue Services team jointly led the rescue operations. The police said around three passengers in the KSRTC bus also sustained minor injuries and were taken to government hospitals in Kuravilangad and Kottayam MCH for treatment. They added that the KSRTC bus driver was found unconscious following the accident.
