A court here has awarded life imprisonment to three history-sheeters for murdering the temple priest in 2021. According to prosecution, enmity developed between two castes over administering famous Seevalaperi Sudalaimadan Temple, giving temple shops on lease and handling the temple revenue. As the enmity worsened, temple priest Chidambaram alias Durai, 41, was murdered by an armed gang in 2021 and the Seevalaperi police arrested history-sheeters: Thangapandi, 29, Petchikutti, 29, Murugan, 28, and a few others, all from Seevalaperi, in connection with the murder.
