Three workers died in a boiler accident in the factory of Inamdar Sugars in Marakumbi village near Bailhongal of Belagavi district on Wednesday. Akshay Topade, Deepak Munnoli and Sudarshan Banoshi died of burns. Five others who were injured are receiving treatment. The police said that the accident was reported from Compartment Number One where workers had gathered to repair a heat valve. A case has been registered in the Murgod Police Station. Superintendent of Police K. Ramarajan and other officers visited the spot. Inamdar Sugars is a private factory that has family members of the former MLA D.B. Inamdar and KLE Society chairman Prabhakar Kore as members of the governing board. Dr. Prabhakar Kore and Mr. Vikram Inamdar are directors, while Amit Kore serves as the Managing Director.
