Balarama Krishna inspecting cattle kill by tiger in a palm oil farm near Rajamahendravaram city on Thursday. | Photo Credit: BY ARRANGEMENT The transient tiger has resorted to a fresh cattle kill on the outskirts of Rajamahendravaram city in the early hours of Thursday (Febuary 05), three days after it preyed on a calf near Torredu on the banks of the river Godavari. In the fresh kill reported near Punyakshertram area in Rajanagaram Mandal, the tiger killed two cattle. Forest Range Officer Daveedu told The Hindu: “The tiger is roaming in the fields of horticulture crops and palm oil farms, which are nearly five kilometres, from Rajamahendravaram city on Thursday morning.” Mr. Daveedu is part of the tiger monitoring team. The forest officials have alerted the locals not to attend their farm work to avoid any untoward incidents. The schools remain closed in the Rajamahendravaram Rural and Rajanagaram mandals in East Godavari district. The Rajamahendravaram City North Zone police have deployed police personnel to close all the routes to prevent vehicular movements into the area where the tiger is roaming. Sound systems have been arranged to announce a warning to all the agriculture workers present in the fields.
