A three-day workshop on wildlife conservation for Class I/Group A officers organised by Salim Ali Centre for Ornithology and Natural History (Sacon) commenced in Coimbatore on Wednesday. V. Thirunavukarasu, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Principal of the Central Academy for State Forest Service, inaugurated the workshop. He emphasized the importance of legal frameworks and the role of administrative officers in effective implementation of wildlife laws. Organisers said that the workshop, which is attended by Class I/Group A officers from various non-forest line departments, aims to reinforce inter-departmental coordination and informed decision-making for wildlife conservation beyond forests. The workshop, which Sacon organises under the aegis of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India, includes lectures by experts, interactive sessions and field visits.
