Around 40 numismatists of Shivamogga and neighbouring districts will display their rare collection of coins, notes and stamps in a three-day exhibition to be held at Shubhamangala Samudaya Bhavana in Shivamogga from January 16.

The exhibition will be held as part of the national convention of numismatists being conducted by the Malnad Coins and Stamp Collectors Trust.

Devadas Naik, president of the trust, in a press conference in Shivamogga on January 13, said hundreds of rare stamps, notes and coins that had been collected over the decades will be on display. The exhibition consists of coins introduced by various dynasties, including Vijayanagar kings, Kadambas, Hoysalas, Chalukyas, Gangas, Rashtrakootas, Mughals, Guptas, Cholas, Sultans and Mysuru rulers. Besides that, rare stamps, coins and stamps of various countries will be showcased, he said.

Trustees Raghavendra Shet, Chandrakanth, Vinod Kumar Jain, Badrinath, B.J. Mahesh, L. Subramanya, all numismatists, were present at the press conference.
