Three boys drowned in a lake at Maniyampattu village near Ranipet town on Wednesday after they slipped into the water body while trying to take bath in the lake. Police said the deceased has been identified as S. Parthiban, 13, S. Nithish, 14, and K. Nithish, 13. They were friends and neighbours near SIPCOT complex in Ranipet town. As the boys did not return for a long time, parents and relatives went in search of them. They found slippers and clothes of the boys on the bund of the lake. On being informed, Ranipet SIPCOT police and firefighters retrieved the bodies from the lake. A case was registered. A probe is under way.
