Three individuals were arrested and a total of 137 non-duty paid liquor bottles along with 1.763 kilograms of ganja were seized in a series of coordinated raids by the State Task Force (STF) of the excise department across Hyderabad and its outskirts. Acting on intelligence inputs that non-duty paid liquor was being brought in from Delhi, Goa and Haryana through Shamshabad airport, joint teams conducted vehicle checks within the Saroornagar excise station limits. During the inspections, officials seized 107 liquor bottles illegally transported into the State. The seized stock was later handed over to the Saroornagar excise station for further action. In a separate special drive against illicit liquor at Pahadishareef, teams intercepted vehicles and recovered another 30 bottles of non-duty paid liquor. These bottles were handed over to the Meerpet excise station. The crackdown also targeted narcotics distribution. During checks between Gangabowli and the water tank area in Dhoolpet, officials seized 1.532 kilograms of ganja and arrested two persons, identified as Kishore Singh and Surender Singh. Investigators said six other persons were also found to be involved in the network and cases have been registered against them. The arrested accused and the seized contraband were produced before the Dhoolpet excise station. In another operation near the Erragadda metro station, a man identified as Jadhav was arrested while selling ganja. Officials seized 231 grams of the narcotic substance from his possession and handed him over to the Ameerpet police along with the seized material.
