Three persons were arrested in connection with robbery at a spa centre in Velachery, where gold chains and mobile phones were looted.

According to the police, the complainant, M. Dhanalakshmi, 24, of Kannagi Nagar, runs a spa centre on the first floor of an apartment complex on 100 Feet Road, Velachery. On the evening of February 7, while she was at work with her employees Shalini and Priyanka, two men visited the spa and enquired about the services.

Growing suspicious of their behaviour, Dhanalakshmi refused to provide any services. Shortly thereafter, the two men returned along with three others, insisting that services be provided to them as well. During the conversation, the three men who had come upstairs joined the other two, and all five allegedly threatened Dhanalakshmi and her employees at knifepoint.

The accused then robbed over five sovereigns of gold jewellery and six mobile phones from them. They also removed and took away the monitor and DVR from the premises before fleeing the scene.

Based on Dhanalakshmi’s complaint, the Velachery police registered a case and launched an investigation. A special team examined CCTV footage from cameras installed near the place.
