Three arrested for possession of ganja, sedative pills near Sirumugai in Coimbatore

The Sirumugai police have arrested three persons on charges of possessing and attempting to sell ganja and prescription drugs.

The accused were identified as Sheik Dawood (24) and D. Ajay (25), both residents of SRS Nagar at Sirumugai, and Shansa (22) from Odanthurai at Mettupalayam.

According to the police, a patrolling team spotted the trio standing in a suspicious manner near Anaipalli Pudur on Thursday. Upon seeing the police, they attempted to escape. The police intercepted and detained them.

During questioning and subsequent search, the police found that the trio had allegedly sourced the contraband items from other States to sell them in and around Sirumugai area. The police seized 300 grams of ganja and 160 sedative tablets from them.

The Sirumugai police registered a case and arrested them. They were produced before a court and remanded in judicial custody.
