Thousands of devotees thronged the famed Thirunallar Dharbaranyeswarar Temple in Karaikal on the occasion of Sani Peyarchi on Friday.

Special abhishekam and puja were performed to mark the transition of Lord Saneeswaran (Saturn) from the Hindu zodiac sign of Kumbha (Aquarius) to Meena (Pisces). According to temple officials, the planetary transition occurred at 8.24 a.m. Special rituals began in the early hours with abhishekam to Saneeswaran using gingelly oil, turmeric, sacred powders, fruits, panchamirtham, honey, curd, sandal paste, and rose water.
