ASHOK Thousands of devotees from villages in and around Madurai arrived at Thirupparakundram to attend the car festival at Subramaniaswamy Temple as part of Panguni Uthiram festival on Sunday. Enthusiastic youth pulled the temple car with spiritual fervour. The car left the temple around 6.30 a.m. and made its way on the girivalam path. The devotees walked alongside the huge temple car despite the scorching sun. The car procession came to a halt at 12.20 p.m. after which special pujas were performed.
