Although only close to 50% of international flights are being operated due to the war in West Asia, Thiruvananthapuram International Airport has announced a 10% increase in international weekly flight operations from the airport in the summer schedule compared to the winter schedule of 2026.

According to the new summer schedule, which will be effective till October 25, 2026, the airport will handle 634 weekly Air Traffic Movements (ATMs), including 340 international flight movements per week. International ATMs will see an increase of 10% from the current level of 310.

Although the proposed expansion underscores the airport’s growing connectivity and its increasing preference among domestic and international airlines, the full-fledged operation of international flights is expected only after the full opening of the airspaces over West Asia. At present, the airlines are operating only a few scheduled flights and special flights due to the continuing war situation in West Asia.

Similarly, flight services to Navi Mumbai and Guwahati were announced in the new domestic summer schedule, even as there is enhanced connectivity to various destinations from Thiruvananthapuram, including Chennai, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Muscat, Kuala Lumpur, and Kuwait.

As per the new schedule, the Thiruvananthapuram-Abu Dhabi sector will have 74 flight movements per week, followed by Thiruvananthapuram-Sharjah (56), Thiruvananthapuram-Dubai (32), Thiruvananthapuram-Kuala Lumpur (28), Thiruvananthapuram-Muscat (26), Thiruvananthapuram-Kuwait (26), Thiruvananthapuram-Male (24), Thiruvananthapuram-Doha (20), Thiruvananthapuram-Bahrain (14), Thiruvananthapuram-Singapore (14), Thiruvananthapuram-Dammam (14), Thiruvananthapuram-Colombo (08), and Thiruvananthapuram-Hanimaadhoo (04).
