A police inspector has been transferred and placed on the waiting list after a video clip showing him forcibly removing a small petty shop during action against an alleged illegal manjuvirattu near Neivasal village in Pudukkottai district went viral on social media.

According to police sources, the event was held at Neivasal on Tuesday. About a km away from the venue, police received information that a group had allegedly released cattle in a manner resembling a manjuvirattu, which had not been permitted.

A team led by Thirumayam Inspector Senthil Kumar rushed to the spot and intervened to stop the activity. During the action, the Inspector was seen in a video removing items from a temporary petty shop located near the site, which subsequently drew criticism after the footage was widely shared on social media.

Taking note of the video, Tiruchi Range Inspector General of Police V. Balakrishnan ordered the transfer of Mr. Senthil Kumar and placed him on the waiting list pending further review.
