Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi founder Thol. Thirumavalavan, on Sunday, participated in a protest in Chennai against the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in a joint operation by the United States and Israel. He urged the Government of India issue an immediate statement condemning the killing.

Mr. Thirumavalavn said the atrocities of the United States’ imperialism are becoming unbearable every passing day. “All those opposing American hegemony are being killed by U.S. imperialism. Saddam Hussein died in that manner. Libya’s Gaddafi was killed in a grotesque manner in public. Venezuela’s president was arrested. The U.S. imperialism has had a hand in the Egyptian revolution, Eelam killings and recent Nepal protests,” he said.

Mr. Thirumavalavan hit out at U.S. President Donald Trump and said the whole world is caught in the cross hairs.

“Khamenei’s stance that he would be the first to oppose U.S. imperialism has irritated them. They (imperialist forces) might have thought Khamenei would fear them after the death of Saddam Hussein, but Khamenei wasn’t like that. He may have been killed, but he has won in this war. This is not a war against Iran alone, but against all nation states which are oil-rich. Democratic forces should come together to put an end to American imperialism,” he said.
