The Vijayapura district administration and gas company officials have told the people that there is no scarcity of domestic cylinders in the district.

Deputy Commissioner Anand K. said in Vijayapura on Thursday that there is no scarcity of domestic cylinders and that there is no need to panic.

He urged the people not to take empty cylinders to gas agency offices and assured them that cylinders will be delivered at their doorsteps.

Vijayapura does not have LPG cylinder refilling stations and that they are supplied from Belagavi and Solapur in Maharashtra.

However, the Deputy Commissioner promised that each family will get their quota of 15 domestic cylinders per year.

But, the supply of commercial cylinders has been stopped. Dr. Anand has directed officials to carry out inspections to prevent hoarding of commercial or domestic cylinders.

Bulk messages with similar content are being sent to the public by gas company officials.

This development follows scenes where members of the general public are seen standing in long queues with gas cylinders in Vijayapura city. But all agencies are getting the requisite number of cylinders in 24 hours of placing orders, said an officer.
