As part of the annual pre-festival celebration, the mobile library has been launched with books donated by readers from across the city.

Mr. Poyyamozhi said, “Today, there is a need to focus on and improve the reading habit. It is in this spirit, that the government is holding book fairs in every district. Such initiatives will help many people wanting to read, and finally guide them towards bigger libraries, such as the Anna Centenary Library.”

This year, a book donation drive is being conducted at The Hindu office, with special focus on children’s books, which will be distributed to schools.

The mobile library began touring Chennai from Jan 5 for the benefit of readers at Thiruvanmiyur Beach, Anna Nagar Tower Park, Marina Beach, Besant Nagar Beach, IIT-Madras, Light House, and Mudhalvar Pathipaggam Perambur, among other areas.
