The Hindu Group, in association with the SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), will host the two-day Deep Tech Summit 2026 on April 6 and 7, bringing together policymakers, investors, and leaders of industry, academia, and start-ups, aimed at shaping the future of deep technology in the country. The Summit seeks to provide a platform for ideas to transition from laboratories to markets, enabling meaningful collaborations between stakeholders across deep tech sectors, including semiconductors, AI, biotech, and advanced engineering. The first day will feature fireside chats with government leadership on India’s deep tech vision, and with IIT Madras Institute professor Ashok Jhunjhunwala on innovation ecosystems. Expert panels will discuss ‘The Deep Tech Decade: Engineering the next Revolution’ and ‘Re-engineering Academic Research for Industrial Agility’, while investor-focussed sessions will discuss how to scale up lab innovations. On day two, the highlights include a keynote session featuring thought leaders from academia and industry, panel discussions on ‘The State as De-Risker—Aligning Academic Excellence with National Missions’ and ‘Convergence of Disciplines—Breaking Traditional Engineering Silos’, and a fireside chat with leaders from entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystems. There will also be a master class by Parag Agarwal, CEO, UniversityTech.io and workshops by i-Hub Foundation for Cobotics, the technology innovation hub of IIT Delhi, and the Credit Guarantee Scheme for Startups. Start-up pitch rounds will continue throughout the day on both days. Amitesh Kumar Sinha, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), and CEO, India Semiconductor Mission, will be the chief guest. Experts on the panel are set to include Panneerselvam Madanagopal, CEO, MeitY Startup Hub; C. Muthamizhchelvan, Vice Chancellor, SRMIST; and B. Govindarajan, CEO, Royal Enfield.
