The body of a 16-year-old girl was found in a pond on the campus of a gurukula in Bantwal taluk of Dakshina Kannada district on Monday, February 23. She was reported missing on Sunday, February 22, evening. The girl had allegedly left behind a letter. The Vitla police had initially registered a case of kidnap and started an investigation. After the girl’s body was found on Monday, the police converted the case into that of unnatural death. Further investigation is under way. The girl had been studying Sanskrit in the gurukula for the past five years.
