Textile showroom valet arrested for raping physically-challenged woman in Coimbatore

The police on Monday arrested a 32-year-old man on charge of raping a physically-challenged woman suffering partial paralysis in Coimbatore.

The arrested has been identified as M. Mahesh of Thalavadi in Erode district, who had been working as a valet in a textile showroom in the city.

According to the police, the accused knew the woman aged around 20 and her residence on the street adjacent to the parking area of the textile showroom.

The police said Mahesh went to the woman’s house on Sunday, when her mother was away for work, and raped her. She narrated the ordeal to her mother when the latter returned after work. The mother took the survivor to a private hospital and the hospital management informed the police about the crime.

Mahesh was taken into custody for questioning based on the statement of the survivor. A case was registered against Mahesh for rape, house trespass and other charges and was arrested on Monday, the police said.
