The much-awaited new Pay Revision Commission recommendations is unlikely to be released anytime soon. The Telangana Government has issued orders extending the time limit for completion of pending pay fixation by the departments till September 30, 2026. In a circular issued on Thursday (March 26, 2026), the Finance department said instructions were issued to complete pay fixations in revised pay scales – 2020 before March 31. “Any pay fixations beyond March 31 will require prior approval of the Government with the concurrence of the Finance department.” The circular cited the request of the General Administration department regarding extension of time sought by the officers committee to complete pending pay fixation and accordingly, the time has been extended till September 30, Senior officials said fixation of pay scales recommended by the previous PRC is mandatory for the implementation of the proposed new scales. “Fixation of pay scales should be completed before the new PRC comes into effect,” a senior official said. Officials recalled order issued on June 11, 2021 regarding fixation of pay in accordance with the revised pay scales recommended by the Pay Revision Commission headed by retired bureaucrat C.R. Biswal and said fixation of pay scales for a majority of the employees had already been done. “A minute number of employees, like those under unauthorised absence or missing are remaining. The order will delay the next PRC,” a senior official said.
