Telangana government has issued orders appointing 1992 batch IFS officer and the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Vinay Kumar, as the Chief Wildlife Warden for the State. He will succeed retired PCCF Elusing Meru.

Apart from working as Field Director of the Amrabad Tiger Reserve, Mr. Vinay Kumar served in various capacities outside the Forest department too. He had been the Project Director for the Drought Prone Areas Programme in Adilabad district, and as the Commissioner, Irrigation and Command Area Development in united State.

He also served as the State Project Director for the projects undertaken with support from World Bank and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and stood as the first runner-up for the ‘Water For Life’ award by the United Nations Organisation in 2014 for his work in sustainable management of water resources, a statement from the department informed.
