Telangana CM steps in to ensure treatment for two-year-old leukemia patient

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy intervened on Friday (February 6, 2026), to ensure immediate medical treatment for a two-year-old child from Hyderabad diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, directing officials to extend full government support.

According to a post by the Telangana Chief Minister’s Office on X, the Chief Minister responded after being informed about the condition of the child, Phinehas, who is suffering from B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, a form of bone marrow cancer. He instructed officials to take urgent steps so that the child receives the required medical care without delay.

The case was highlighted by Hyderabad-based social activist Robin Zaccheus, who posted an appeal on X on February 5 seeking urgent assistance. He said the child had begun chemotherapy at Little Stars Hospital, but the full course of treatment would cost ₹12 lakh, which the Below Poverty Line family could not afford. “Doctors had indicated a 90% cure rate if treatment continued urgently,” he said.

Following the Chief Minister’s directions, officials contacted the family and advised that the child be admitted to Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital and Research Institute. The State government will bear the cost of treatment. The Chief Minister also stated that a Letter of Credit would be issued to facilitate the process and prevent any financial hurdles.
