Revanth Reddy on Thursday directed officials from key public transport departments, including the South Central Railway (SCR), to conduct a comprehensive study of the MMTS suburban train services and submit a detailed report on measures to increase passenger patronage, improve amenities, and strengthen last‑mile connectivity. Emphasising the need to enhance MMTS services within the Core Urban Region (CURE) of Hyderabad, the Chief Minister said the suburban rail system must be strengthened to meet the city’s rapidly growing transportation needs. He sought an explanation from officials on the recent decline in MMTS ridership and asked them to recommend corrective measures. During a review meeting on the MMTS project held at the Legislative Council, Mr. Revanth Reddy instructed officials to increase the frequency of MMTS services during peak office hours and ensure strict punctuality in operations. He also directed officials to ensure the provision of adequate passenger amenities at all MMTS stations, noting that improved facilities are essential to attract commuters. Additionally, he suggested exploring avenues to enhance self‑generated revenue for the MMTS system. The meeting was attended by Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar; Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao; MA&UD Special Secretary Jayesh Ranjan; R&B Secretary Vikas Raj; the Chief Minister’s Special Secretary Ajith Reddy; Secretary Manik Raj; GHMC Commissioner R.V.
