Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Sunday said the holy month of Ramzan is a reminder of values such as purity, compassion and service to others, even as he underscored that his government would continue to give utmost priority to the minority communities. Mr. Reddy was flanked by faith and political leaders, among others, as he was addressing the State-organised annual Dawat-e-Iftar at L.B. Stadium on Sunday. “This is not just a festival but an occasion to remind ourselves of our values. The message of Ramzan is to remain pure, help others and serve society while fasting,” he said. The Chief Minister said the festival symbolises harmony among communities and fosters a sense of brotherhood among people of different faiths, including Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs and Christians. He said the government belongs to the people and that he is their “brother”. Stating that his government would continue to do its best for the welfare of the minority community, Mr Reddy cited several initiatives taken by the administration. He referred to the appointment of Mohammad Azharuddin as a Minister and Mohammed Ali Shabbir as an adviser to the Telangana government. He also pointed to the appointment of corporation chairpersons from minority communities. The CM further stated that cricketer Mohammed Siraj was appointed as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) while boxer Nikhat Zareen had also been appointed as a DSP and that the government had extended financial assistance of ₹2 crore to support her training. Mr Reddy urged people not to fall into the traps of people seeking to sow discord between communities but to work together for the development of the State and the country. “We are all brothers and must work together for the development of Telangana,” he said, adding that the government will whole heartedly support minority communities.
