The Telangana government has proposed an allocation of ₹11,907 crore for the Home department in the 2026–27 Budget, marking a 16.87% increase over the previous year, as Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu underscored a shift towards rehabilitation-led strategies to tackle Naxalism.  The sector now accounts for 3.67% of the State’s ₹3,24,234 crore outlay.

Presenting the Budget in the Assembly on Friday (March 20), Mr. Bhatti said that the State’s approach had moved beyond treating Naxalism purely as a law-and-order issue. He criticised both previous State administrations and the present Central government for relying largely on police and armed interventions, arguing instead that socio-economic inequalities lay at the root of the insurgency.
