The 13-year-old boy whose name was given as Thavasi (son of Kamatchi) who stepped into the river, suddenly drowned. Shocked, the relatives attempted to pull him out, but he vanished. After the Fire and Rescue Service personnel from Cumbum conducted a search, they fished out the body at around 7 p.m. The police have registered a case and sent the body for post-mortem.
