A meeting of the State office-bearers of the Andhra Pradesh United Teachers’ Federation on Sunday (March 29, 2026) issued a clarion call to teachers across the State to participate in large numbers in the proposed hunger strikes on Wednesday (April 1), in support of their demands for the appointment of a Chairman to the 12th Pay Revision Commission (PRC), the declaration of 29% Interim Relief for State government employees and teachers, and the payment of pending DA and other arrears.

Addressing the meeting, the federation’s State president N. Venkateswarlu and State general secretary K.S.S. Prasad said that the teachers had resorted to ‘Ranabheri- 2.0’ in support of their demands in the past. This was followed by ‘Ranabheri 3.0′ staged on March 24. As the government did not heed to their repeated pleas, the federation had decided to launch hunger strikes in all district headquarters on Wednesday.

The federaton leaders urged teachers to take active part in the special enrolment drive being undertaken to enhance students’ strength in public schools and also strongly condemned scholar Garikapati Narasimha Rao’s statement on the mid-day-meal scheme.

Federation’s honorary president K. Srinivasa Rao, State vice-presidents K. Suresh Kumar and A.N. Kusuma Kumari, treasurer Reddy Mohan Rao, State secretaries B. Lakshmiraja, S.P. Manohar Kumar, S. Murali Mohan Rao, S.S. Naidu, N. Navakoteswara Rao, Uma Maheshwara Rao, B. Subhashini and a host of others attended the meeting.
