S.R. Manjunath, Deputy Director of Public Instructions (DDPI), Shivamogga district, has suspended Pramod Sannakki, a trained graduate teacher of the government higher primary school at Shedtikere in Sagar taluk, following allegations that he beat up a class 7 student. Mr. Manjunath, in his order dated March 13, suspended the teacher as per the Karnataka Civil Service Rules, pending a departmental inquiry against him. The officer stated that the teacher’s conduct was unbecoming of a government servant. The teacher allegedly beat up the student on March 12, leaving bruises all over his body. Sagar taluk Block Education Officer Sadananda Swamy C. had filed a report on the incident to the DDPI, recommending disciplinary action against the teacher.
