A 49-year-old headmaster of Government Primary School in Then Senthamangalam and his wife killed were killed in a road accident after the two-wheeler in which they were travelling was hit by a car on Chittoor – Cuddalore High Road near Vandavasi town in Tiruvannamalai. Police said the deceased were identified as S. Appandairajan and his wife A. Jeevitha, 41, a teacher in a private school in Vandavasi. Initial inquiry revealed that Appandairajan, along with his wife and daughter, was returning home after attending a marriage function when a car proceeding towards Tindivanam hit their two-wheeler. The incident occurred when the car driver, K. Sugumar, lost control of the vehicle. Immediately, other motorists and passersby rescued the three injured persons and shifted them to Government Taluk Hospital in Vandavasi. They were later referred to Government Medical College Hospital in Chengalpattu where doctors said that the couple was brought dead. A case has been registered and a probe is under way.
