Participating in the annual Samagam of Sri Guru Nanak Satsang Sabha here on Thursday, Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi appealed to the youth to draw inspiration from their sacrifices and build a ViksitBharat 2047.

Paying obeisance to the Sri Gurugranth Sahib at the Gurudwara Sri Guru Nanak Dham, Rameswaram, the Governor dwelt upon how Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, over five hundred years ago when Bharat was suffering atrocities of foreign aggressors and Bharatiya Sanskriti was under existential threat, had travelled for some 14 years all over the country to save the society and the civilization during which he spent some six months at Rameswaram.

He recalled the immense sacrifices of Sikh Gurus and brave Shahibzadas for the sake of our culture and identity and underscored their relevance today. The youth, he said, should act with renewed energy and steadfast resolve to build a new nation, Mr Ravi added.

Speaking to media persons, Sabha president Sital Singh, general secretary Harbinder Singh, treasurer Gurmeet Singh and Guru Nanak College general secretary Manjit Singh Nayyar said that it was a joyous moment for all the Sikhs to have His Excellency here at the annual Samagam. The sacrifices of the Sikh Gurus and the braveness reflected the tradition from time immemorial.

Earlier, he was welcomed by Ramanathapuram District Collector Simranjeet Singh Kahlon. A large number of Sikhs from different parts of the country participated in the event.
