File photo for representative purposes. | Photo Credit: PTI The State’s interim Budget for the financial year 2026-2027 will be presented in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly on Tuesday (February 17, 2026) with Finance Minister Thangam Thennarasu presenting the State’s interim Budget ahead of the Assembly elections this year. Stalin on Monday (February 16, 2026), said the State’s per capita income growth has consistently outpaced the national average. Tamil Nadu can achieve its trillion-dollar economy milestone by 2031 if it sustains the 2024-25 nominal growth rate of 16%, “with an assumption of 2% (medium-term rate) rise in the value of dollar against rupee per annum in the medium term,” it added. The Finance Minister will also present in the House the demand for advance grants for the year 2026-2027 and additional expenditure for 2025-2026 for its approval, on Friday (February 20, 2026).
