Siva Saravanan BJP State president Nainar Nagenthran on Monday (February 16, 2026) expressed regret over his unsavoury comments against actor Trisha Krishnan. During an informal chat with reporters at his residence in Palayamkottai on Monday, Mr. Nagenthran said he had neither launched personal attacks against anyone nor encouraged such criticisms since he entered politics. “Our party’s women’s wing president and MLA Vanathi Srinivasan and former State president K. Annamalai spoke to me in this regard. It [the comments against Ms. Trisha] was uttered by mistake. If my comments had hurt anyone, I sincerely regret those remarks,” Mr. Nagenthran said. Earlier in the day, Ms. Trisha issued a statement through her counsel condemning the distasteful comment without naming the BJP leader. While launching a scathing attack recently on actor-turned-politician and Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) founder Vijay, Mr. Nagenthran had said the TVK leader should hit the streets to strengthen his party and brighten its poll prospects instead of remaining indoors. He sought to link Mr. Vijay with Ms. Trisha.
