Velankanni Raj By allotting the Padmanabhapuram Assembly constituency to its ally, the Congress, the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has effectively closed the door on Dairy Development Minister T. Mano Thangaraj, who was elected from the constituency in 2016 and 2021, contesting again. Mr. Thangaraj was dropped from the Cabinet in September 2024 in the wake of complaints, but was reinducted in April 2025. Though the Padmanabhapuram constituency has been given to the Congress, the CPI(M) has also requested the constituency. Talks are going to be held to exchange the seat.
